I will wear it with pride.

Yesterday, my package of Tripawds gear arrived at work. Two shirts and a ceramic travel mug.

My friend asked if I was going to send it back.

“No. I’m keeping it. The Tripawds community has given me more in the past few weeks than I could imagine. It’s a great community”

And that’s the truth. You have laughed with us, cheered us on, and cried with us. You are good friends to have.

I will proudly drink my coffee from my Tri-Harder mug. And I will wear my t-shirt and polo shirt with pride.

And you know what, we did Tri-Harder.

I believe Achilles is grateful to us for tri-ing, and I believe he is grateful for us helping him out of this body.

I may be full of poo – but I take comfort in believing that my furkids move on into the spirit world, and they are moving freely, comfortably without the constraints of their bodies. And they are still here and they are in spirit and we will be together again.

I love you all for all you’ve given us.

Thank you.

  1. You sure did tri harder, and believe me – Achilles loved you for it. You should wear your new gear with pride. Once you are part of our family here, you will always be part of it.

  2. janet, we agree with you 128%!!! just cause his body failed, doesn’t mean his spirit isn’t strong. many of our tripawds here are now ‘invisible’ but they are still with us. you gave achilles everything possible – you definitely do your tripawd gear proud!!

  3. Janet, I don’t think you’re full of poo at all.

Enjoy your shirts and your mug. You absolutely did Tri-hard.

    Sending many hugs your way.

  4. Dear Janet,
My Tri-pawd T-shirts arrived after JD moved into the spirit world.
I was sad for a moment, but just a moment. I too thought of the support both she and I garnered from this fantastic family. I showed my shirts to my co-workers, shared a few tears and then had the chance to share with some of them about the stregnth I found here.

I have been able to wear the Chloe Cancer Walk shirt to celebrate my friend Sammy’s first chemo treatment and I proudly wore my black lab front amp shirt to our Puget Sound Tripawds gathering a few weeks ago. I feel JD close to me when I wear the shirts.

Spirit Achilles knows how much you did for him and how much you love him. Wear your shirts with pride and I hope the coffee tastes great in the mug, toast to Achilles with each sip!!!

Sending a big {{{hug}}} to you

  5. Achilles was a lucky dog to have been able to share life with a great family Janet. From your posts its’ clear Achilles had hand in shaping who you are today and explains the toughness you displayed and the strength you provide to others here waging the good fight… Thank you

  6. Janet,

Enjoy all of your tripawd gear and wear it with pride. Achilles was a special pup and I know you must miss him dearly. He was brave and courageous as are you. Thank you for sharing Achilles with us.

  7. Janet, Achilles’ spirit will always be strong in your heart and soul, guiding you in good times and bad. Listen closely, he’s still around.

Thank you for courageously wearing your Tripawds gear, it means so much to know that this community has given you the strength to continue sharing the stories of this beautiful three-legged community.

    Hugs coming your way.

  8. Hi Janet,

Just wanted to check in see how you are doing.

I lost my Honey late September and miss her incredibly. I understand and feel your pain and the incredible void left behind after losing a beloved companion.

I fell in love with your Achilles the first time I saw him in your blog. What a love! Your pictures show just how much he was a loved family member.

Just thinking of you and thought I would write. You are not alone…we are here. And trust me, I feel your loss and pain.

Hugs to you and your family

  9. I miss Tai too so I, along with so many others unfortunately, know how you feel. I don’t think you’re full of poo (very polite) I truly believe that their spirit lives on and stays nearby. I believe that soulmates are not limited to humans, animals have souls too. Tai is my soulmate and as such we are destined to be together always. That brings me comfort. Achilles was a special dog and you had a tremendous bond that physical limits cannot break. You did him proud. He and Tai have escaped the confines of their bodies but they continue to penetrate our hearts, minds and spirits. Peace.
